£70.00

1961
[8], 256pp.
Heinemann, London

The first edition of Graham Greene's novel set in a Leper colony.

The first edition, first impression, with no further impressions stated. In the original price clipped dust wrapper.

Greene described the novel as "an attempt to give dramatic expression to various types of belief, half-belief, and non-belief, in the kind of setting, removed from world-politics and house-hold-preoccupations, where such differences are felt acutely and find expression."

In the original cloth binding in the original price clipped dust wrapper. Externally in excellent condition with the odd mark to the boards. Dust wrapper is generally smart creasing to the joints and chips and closed tears to the extremities. The odd spot to the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright with the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages and the fore edge.

Grading: VERY GOOD INDEED in a VERY GOOD dust wrapper.
