£70.00

1961
[8], 256pp.
Heinemann, London

The first edition of noted British novelist Graham Greenes’ novel set in a Leper colony.

The first edition, first impression, with no further impressions stated. In the original price clipped dust wrapper.

Greene described the novel as "an attempt to give dramatic expression to various types of belief, half-belief, and non-belief, in the kind of setting, removed from world-politics and house-hold-preoccupations, where such differences are felt acutely and find expression."

In the original cloth binding in the original price clipped dust wrapper. Externally in excellent condition with the odd mark to the boards. Contemporary gift inscription to front free endpaper. Dust wrapper is smart, with the occasional minor closed tear and chip, slightly more severe to the head and tail of the spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot to the fore edge.

Grading: VERY GOOD INDEED in a VERY GOOD dust wrapper.
