A signed first edition of this autobiographical work from Booker Prize winning author, Salman Rushdie, recounting the controversy caused by his 1988 work ‘The Satanic Verses’.

Flat signed by the author to the title page. 

The first edition, first impression with complete number line. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. 

Following the publication of his work ‘The Satanic Verses’, a fatwa was issued by the Supreme Leader of Iran, forcing Rushdie into hiding. Rushdie used the pseudonym Joseph Anton, named after two of his literary heroes, Joseph Conrad and Anton Chekhov. 

In the original cloth binding in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally in excellent condition with bumping to extremities. Dust wrapper is in excellent condition with minor shelf wear to extremities. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very light handling mark to fore edge.
