Barrie and Jenkins, London

The first edition of the second novel in Fraser’s Flashman series of novels.

The first edition, first impression with no further impressions stated. In the original unclipped dust wrapper.

Set during the Revolutions of 1848, the novel references the Schleswig-Holstein Question, and includes fictional depictions of real-life historical figures such as Otto Van Bismarck and Lola Montez. The series is based on fictional ‘discovered historical papers’ relating to Flashman, the bully from Thomas Hughes’ novel ‘Tom Brown’s School Days’.

In the original cloth binding in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally in excellent condition with just slight shelf wear to the extremities. Dust wrapper is sound with archival covering adhered to wrap, causing creasing to spine. Chipping and the occasional closed tear to extremities. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with the odd spot to the fore edge.

Grading: NEAR FINE in a GOOD dust wrapper.
