1961 Marnie by Winston Graham
1961
186 [1]pp.
Hodder& Stoughton, London.
A pleasing example of the first edition of ‘Marnie’, the basis for Hitchcock’s 1964 film.
The first edition, first impression with no further impressions stated. In the original unclipped dust wrapper.
Graham’s psychological crime drama tells the story of Marnie, a young woman who repeatedly embezzles funds from her employer. The work was notably adapted into a film by Alfred Hitchcock, as well as a stage play and an opera.
In the publisher’s original cloth binding in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally in excellent condition with just minor shelf wear to the extremities. Dust wrapper is very smart, with slight chipping and the occasional closed tear to the extremities. The odd spot to the wrap, more sever to the rear of the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just the odd spot to the fore edge.
Grading: NEAR FINE in a VERY GOOD dust wrapper.
